Riserva wines are only made when a barrel is unanimously judged to be of exceptional quality. This is only our fourth Riserva release since we first started showing our wines in 2010 – we clearly set the bar exceptionally high. As a winemaker finding these unicorn barrels that, for whatever reason, stand above the rest is one of the best parts of the job. The fact that we have the ability to capture this in bottle and share it with you gives us so much pleasure.

Only 384 bottles of Riserva Nero d’Avola were produced from the 2023 vintage. A single 300L hogshead barrel that stood out above all others as an outstanding example of this variety that we see so much potential in. The decision was made to bottle it separately and offer it exclusively to our wine club members!

The wine was fermented in one of 1700L French oak foudres, before gentle basket pressing to 6 year old French Oak hogshead, our tasting notes pre bottling state “lifted perfume, bright colour, intense rose petal, lovely savoury tannin, riserva.” Enjoy!
